It’s funny really. It doesn’t matter where you live, there are always some people that will complain that nothing happens. That all the days are the same. And they wished that they lived somewhere exiting.
I have been there and I guess still am. More so now I think, well I have actually gone from being in the city to living on an Island…
Oh, that made sense didn’t it.. oh well.

But on the bright side, every time something exiting DOES happen, I get to experience the feeling of  REAL JOY !
My heart starts pumping. I feel like a kid on christmas eve. Now that IS pure joy!!!

This time it is a visit from Amerika that is making me exited!! The instrumental postrock band from Massachusetts , CASPIAN , is having a concert on FRIDAY 13.JUNE  in Las Palmas , PAPER CLUB !!!

Wow,WoW,Wow !!!!

DIY Beach Time

It is hammertime !! Oh , no I mean SUMMERTIME !!!!
Here on the Canary Islands we are lucky to have many beach days a year, however when you live here you kind of get a tad spoilt.

La Carpa de la Cultura de Arguineguín

WoW !!! Some culture in the south !!!

La Carpa de la Cultura de Arguineguín , is organized by the Department of Youth, Culture and Celebrations of the City of Mogan in collaboration with the Cabildo of Gran Canaria and Performing Arts Circuit Gran Canaria, and they aim  to bring leisure and alternative culture to citizens.

This project is part of the Neighbourhood Programme 2014 tour to the various towns of the municipality during the year .

Yeas, You Can Shop On Gran Canaria

I guess the summer holiday is over now as the schools are “back in business “. August is still the warmest month down here in Gran Canaria and soon the island will be filled with tourists trying to escape the harsh , brutal KING WINTER.

Thank god for a stable climate !!!

We don´t get snow down here..uh that´s not true…that has actually happened up in the mountains…ughh…NOT OFTEN TOUGH 😉

But if you live down here you do actually need a bit warmer clothes down here in the winter season.

The south of the island is the warmest all year around, but when it comes to shops in general it is definitely better to go up north.

in the south you dont get the selection , the fashion , the scoops! And even tough it is rather cheap, it is cheaper up north.

So many shops, not enough money 😉

ZARA , STRADIVARIUS , PRIMARK , just to mention some. And now with the fall arriving quicker than the summer usual do, we all need t renew our wardrobe. That goes for BOTH men and women 😉

Follow You Heart

I was recently in a wedding, it was soooo nice! They had done it in their own style and fitted the couple perfectly! A bit of tradition with their own twist. Nowadays that is what it should all be about. Or?

There are many couples that comes down to get married on the Canary Islands. All year around. And of course , why not? The weather is nice, it is somewhat cheaper and so on and so on.

However, they all seem to look the same…

Sort of ish´ the same “beach wedding dress” or the big classic cream cake ones. Same reception place all of course decorated in white , same music, same,same, same!!!

If you where to marry the love of your life, would you not like it to be a bit special?? To sort of reflect the love and the persons you are?

I mean it is supposed to be only once ???

I know people expect it to be like this and this. “Oh, you should” , “Oh, you need to ” ….

In the end of the day, it is your BIG day. Do what you WANT. Not what you feel you have to.

Have A Good Travel

Vueling Airlines is a Spanish Airline headquartered in Barcelona. It was actually established in 2004, but its just recently gotten known, probably because at the moment it is the second largest airline in Spain.

It is sort of like Ryan Air , just a bit more customer friendly.  It is one of the cheapest. Well at least if you are going to /  living on a island 😉

Their planes seems to be weirdly small and there is no fancy entertainment or menu. But who cares. As long as you can save a fortune and don´t have the extra stress, some airlines add to your travel.

Most of their flights have to do a changeover in Barcelona. Do make sure you don’t have to wait for hours. We did not do that ….. and ended up waiting in Barcelona for 6 hours !!!!!!

Thank god that airport has a “garden” where you can relax in the sun. A charger station for your mobile, music player, gamer and loads of celebrity’s passing trough everyday.

Psssst…. we saw U-21 F.C Barcelona 😀

Finally Weekend

Where to start? Where to go? What to doooo?

Finally it is FRIDAY !! Time to relax ? Oh no, there is no time to chill this weekend.

This seems to be the weekend everything happens and thank god the calima is ending on Saturday !!!

Fiestas Del Carmen starts in Arguineguin tonight FRIDAY at 21:30 with gala queen election and late night party.  Saturday 13th July at 18:00 in the church square, it is the celebration of  Romeria. Get dressed in the lovely traditional Canarian dress and the celebration continues later on at 23.30h in the market square. You will be abel to buy drinks and food, so bring some cash 🙂

In Las Palmas the The Jazz Festival , Festival Internacional Canarias Jazz & Más Heineken kicks of at The Paper Club Hall at 21:00, with a “Africa Night”.

On Saturday it is again time for La Ruta on the Play Las Canteras, starting at 5:30 in La Guarida Del Blues and if you are a blues fan you shouldn’t miss out on this one. LITTLE MIKE is coming all the way from New York  and is playing with the canarian  TROY NAHUMKO & SBC Band !

Remember ; the sun and the beach is here everyday, go out and enjoy something different 😉

And All That JAZZ

The Jazz Festival , Festival Internacional Canarias Jazz & Más Heineken  kicks off

Friday 12th July until 24th July.

Loads of artists, loads of fun !!!

The festival which started in 1992, has musicians and groups most representative of jazz from all the different eras and countries playing the most diverse jazz styles. Meaning that you don’t have to be a jazz-fanatic or anything.  However, here you have the chance to see proper good musicians preforming proper good music !!!

It all happens in beautiful Las Palmas in different venues, some concerts are free and some you will have to hurry up and get a ticket for.

I Scream For Ice cream

A couple of days ago we went walking around in the little fish village Arguineguin, based in the south of the Island. As many times before we went up towards the Ancora center. But this time we realized that we actually had never tried the “new” ice cream cafe/bar. ( it has actually been there 1 year now, I think )

Anyways. OMG ! This is definitely a MUST !!!

They have lovely Italian-style  ice cream, milkshakes, frappés, proper coffee etc. AND crépes that they make in front of you filled with lovely fresh strawberries and bananas, served with cream or ice cream of you own liking….mhmmmmmm……

You will find it on the left side of the center and the name is LOS ALISIOS.

We are so going back to this place and with this heatwave we are having now, maybe more then once a day 😉

The are open from Tuesday till Sunday from 2:00 – 22:00
